San Cristobal de las Casas is located some 2,400 miles from the U.S. border at San Ysidro, California. The road through Mexico to Chiapas is a scenic and exciting two-lane highway that traverses coastal, desert and mountainous terrains. Make sure you get gas, whenever you see a gas station as you may not see another open one for 100’s of miles. Avoid driving at night you may run into cows or other animals in the road. Driving to San Cristobal de las Casas from San Diego

From The San Diego area, take ramp and follow signs for SR-94 / Martin Luther King Fwy East. Keep left toward SR-125 North. Take ramp right and follow signs for I-8 East. Stay on I-8 East to the I-10 freeway, then follow the directions from Phoenix to San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico.

Driving from Arizona to San Cristobal de las Casas Chiapas, Mexico

Take the I-10 east to Tucson, Arizona. From Tucson, you want to head south on Interstate 19 to Nogales, Arizona. Once you cross into Nogales, Mexico, you want to continue south on Highway 15D. Eventualy you will turn off onto Mex-90D for a few miles then take ramp right for Mex-15D toward Morelia. Entering Federal District you will want to take ramp left and follow signs for Paseo de la Reforma, take ramp right for Avenida Constituyentes toward Periferico Sur. Keep right to stay on Avenida Constituyentes, then turn right onto Adolfo Lopez Mateos, from there take ramp right for Viaducto Presidente Miguel Aleman toward Puebla / Viaducto Ote. After a couple of miles the road name changes to Viaducto Avenida Rio de la Piedad, keep left to stay on Viaducto Avenida Rio de la Piedad. Then the road name changes to Avenida Rio Churubusco. Turn right onto Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, the road name changes to Mex-150D / Autopista Mexico Puebla. You will now be entering into Veracruz. Take ramp right for Mex-145D toward Coatzacoalcos / Villahermosa / Cosamaloapan, keep straight onto Mex-145D / Cordoba-Minatitla until the road name changes to Mex-180 / Carretera Minatitlan-Cardenas. Keep straight onto Carretera Minatitlan-Cardenas. Bear right onto Mex-180D heading into Tabasco, the towards Chiapas. Take ramp and follow signs for Tuxtla GTZ . Bear right onto Mex-190 / Ocozocoautla-Tuxtla Gutierrez, after a few miles the road name changes to Belisario Dominguez / Ocozocoautla-Tuxtla Gutierrez. At the roundabout, take 2nd exit and bear left onto Carretera Chiapa de Corzo-San Cristobal. Road name changes to Mex-190 / Carretera Chiapa de Corzo-San Cristobal. Make a U-turn to stay on Mex-190 / Carretera Chiapa de Corzo-San Cristobal. Keep straight onto Mex-190 / Carretera Chiapa de Corzo-San Cristobal. Road name changes to Juan Sabines. Keep right to stay on Juan Sabines for about a mile then turn right onto Periferico Sur, then turn right onto Uaxactun and then arrive at San Cristóbal de las Casa.
